Deploy iceScrum on real hardware using this Live CD appliance based on Debian GNU/Linux
TurnKey iceScrum Live CD is a free and open source software appliance that provides users with an easy-to-use-and-install operating system based on the widely used Debian GNU/Linux distribution. It can be used by anyone who want to deploy dedicated iceScrum servers with minimum effort.
iceScrum is an open source web-based interface for Scrum, the most popular agile development method. The appliance comes with all of the upstream iceScrum configurations, which are installed from WAR to /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps, and the base directory set to /var/local/lib/icescrum.
Key features include Java and Tomcat configurations, using the OpenJDK 6 Java runtime environment, Tomcat admin user and admin/manager roles, Tomcat HTTP connector on port 80, SSL port on port 443, as well as system wide Java and Tomcat environment variables.
In addition, it includes support for secure connections via the latest SSL specifications, a Postfix mail server for sending email messages to users, and Webmin modules for configuring Postfix and MySQL. For security reasons, the AJP connector was disabled on port 8009.
This TurnKey flavor is distributed as Live CD ISO images and virtual machine images. While the Live CDs can be used to test (demo mode) or install the appliance on any computer that supports the 32-bit or 64-bit architectures, the virtual machines have been designed for OpenStack, Xen, OpenNode, OpenVZ and OVF virtualization technologies.
The entire installation process, which is text-based, should take only a few minutes. The default username for Webmin, SSH, phpMyAdmin and MySQL is root, and the iceScrum and Tomcat usernames is admin, with the default email email@example.com.
During the first configuration process, which kicks in right after the installation, users will be able to add new passwords for the aforementioned accounts, as well as the domain to serve iceScrum. Don't forget to note the IP addresses and ports of the SSH, SFTP, Web Shell and Webmin services.
